City of Salalah Tours
Sumahram Falcon welcomes you to Salalah and the Dhofar region, famous for its beautiful landscapes, cool temperatures and frankincense. We offer a range of tours around Salalah and the surrounding area to the East and West.
The Half Day Tour
Half day tours can be organized for mornings or afternoons at times to suit the individual requirements of each group. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours. Our experienced guides will collect you from any of the local hotels. The first destination for the half day tour will be to visit the ancient footprints of a camel immortalized in a rock hardened mud, said to be the footprints of Prophet Saleh's camel from one of the ancient stories of the Koran. This was discovered in 1993.
From here you will be taken to the famous Fish and Vegetable Souq, to explore the bustling markets open everyday selling fresh fish and vegetables of all kinds. It is a brief car journey to the Gold Souq where you may browse through the many shops selling locally made gold and silver jewelry, which is sold by the gram.
You will then be driven to the Al Housn Palace. This was the first Palace built by the present dynasty of Sultans. You may walk around the imposing walled Palace grounds and two beautiful mosques. Leaving the palace through a small gate leads you into the Frankincense Souq where you may purchase traditional frankincense, perfume, henna and clothing.
Our guide will then drive you to Al Balid for the last part of the tour. These are the remains of a huge walled city dating from the 4th Century AD located on the outskirts of modern-day Salalah. There is also a museum showing a large range of artifacts recovered from archeological excavations on the site.
