Eastern Salalah Tours

Sumahram Falcon welcomes you to Salalah and the Dhofar region, famous for its beautiful landscapes, cool temperatures and frankincense. We offer a range of tours around Salalah and the surrounding area to the East and West.

The Half Day Tour

Half day tours can be organized for mornings or afternoons at times to suit the individual requirements of each group. The tour lasts approximately 4 hours. Our English speaking guides will collect you from any of the local hotels. The first destination for the half day tour is the ancient town of Taqah with it's beautiful white sand beach and a guided tour of the impressive castle.

After this you will be driven to the stunning lagoon of Khor Rori and its vast range of wildlife. The lagoon is dominated by the ancient ramparts of Sumahram, a strongly fortified Frankincense centre dating from the end of the 4th Century BC. From here you will be taken to the Tomb of Bin Ali, the man reputed to have introduced Islam to the Dhofar region.

A short distance away lies the ancient fishing village of Marbat with it's imposing castle and bustling harbour. Rounding off the tour is a light-hearted dis-orientating trip along the 'anti-gravity' road at Towi Atir, before being escorted back to your hotel.

The Full Day Tour

Collection for the full day tour needs to be from your hotel at 9am at the latest.

This tour takes approximately 9 hours and incorporates lunch* at a restaurant serving traditional Omani food. The full day tour incorporates all the destinations of the half day tour, but the journey continues with a visit to the spectacular waterfall and lush vegetation of Wadi Darbat. After an excursion around the Wadi the tour continues along the coast road to the fishing village of Mirbat. The road winds along the very edge of the coast looking down on to secluded golden sand beaches on one side and shear rugged mountains on the other. If you have the time for the full day tour, to see this very dramatic scenery is a must. The final destination are the fresh water springs gushing out of a ravine at Ain-Razat, which lie 20km to the east of Salalah.

* We can arrange a traditional lunch at a cost of 12 omr.
